Autumn Wheat
I’ve always had a thing for cereal. Ever since childhood I’ve always thought it perfectly fine to eat cereal anytime of day. However, my mom thought otherwise and would never let me eat it for lunch or dinner. Upon going to college, I was finally able to have it my way and eat cereal whenever I wanted (and leave the milk sitting on the table next to me in case I wanted seconds – something my dad ALWAYS griped at me about. “Jon, put the milk away.”) I couldn’t possibly count the number of times I heard that line. Now, of course, it’s a main part of my every day life.
It just so happens that after living in San Francisco for nearly four years, I’ve picked up on the “healthy” eating habits that abound in this fair city. If you’ve never heard of a company called Kashi, I would highly recommend you doing a little research. They make the best organic cereals on the planet. Not only are they good for you, but they taste great to boot. Of course, that is with skim milk. Now there’s a low to which I thought I would never stoop. It’s not that bad actually. It’s quite drinkable in fact. Light years better than whole milk. If you are a parent, please don’t let your kids drink whole milk. It’s so bad for them. At least feed them 2% or even 1%. Anyway, point is, the Safeway on Market Street stopped carrying Autumn Wheat much to my dismay. Now I have to drive to the (closer) Diamond Heights Safeway. But nevermind that it’s closer, it’s the fact that the grocery store that I have gone to for years stopped carrying my favorite cereal (when I know darn well that it’s still available elsewhere) that gripes me. C’est la vie.
Tonight’s sad. Gonna goto sleep! :(
