Tears for America

I read a very disturbing article tonight that not only brought a feeling of sickness to my stomach, but also tears for this sad country to my eye. It is so full of hypocrisy that I wonder how anybody in their right mind might take it seriously. It starts here:

U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris told a religious journal that separation of church and state is “a lie” and God and the nation’s founding fathers did not intend the country be “a nation of secular laws.”

The Republican candidate for U.S. Senate also said that if Christians are not elected, politicians will “legislate sin,” including abortion and gay marriage.

Not only are the comments she made offensive, they are in every way a flat out lie. What she is basically saying is that she is sinless (along with all other Christians) and that we as non-Christians are full of sin in the express lane to hell (and of course we want to take the country down with us). She is the epitome of a closed minded, self-righteous, my way or the highway politician that I feel this country can do without. I’m appalled.

Her words only underscore the ridiculous efforts of the Republican Party and right wing Conservative Christians to invalidate all of those who, like me, would like to think differently and for ourselves and not be afraid to have an opinion different from the status quo. Now, she is in every way entitled to her opinion, and I can respect that. But when her opinion minimizes that of so many others (like myself), I begin to have a problem with it. Please stand up for your beliefs and do not let those of one person become the “law of the land.” Do not support these kind of closed-minded “leaders.” Thank you.

The Magnificent Fog

The Magnificent Fog

I love driving back to the city around 5PM this time of year. The fog rolls over the hill each day just like clockwork. It’s a magnificent sight to see. The towers peak through the top projecting into the sky to remind you that there is actually a hill underneath the blanket of fog. Beautiful blue sky fills the rest of the frame as the quick moving particles of water slowly snake their way over the hill like fingers would through long beautiful hair. In a couple hours the entire city will be covered and ready for bed, just as a parent prepares their child for the cold night ahead. It’s fascinating. Reason 1,522 why San Francisco is the best place on Earth.

Happy Day

I would like to wish my dear friend Erica (aka Hoochie) a very happy 28th birthday. Yay, you’re finally 28 on the 28th. I hope your day is amazing. I would also like to wish myself a very warm 4th Year Anniversay in San Francisco. It was on this special day that I flew to California with only two suitcases. Now look what I have! :)
