In case you’ve been living under a rock, or have never seen pictures of or been to San Francisco, this city has many hills, many of which are extremely steep. Last July, Sony chose this fine place as the setting to film a commercial for their new line of TVs. (The Bravia ones.) They launched over 250,000 bouncy balls down the streets of San Francisco. It was amazing. You can watch the commercial here.Well, they are back at it again. Only this time the ad is featuring massive paint explosions. It took 10 days and 250 people to film and huge quantities of paint were needed to accomplish this, which had to be delivered in 1 ton trucks and mixed on-site by 20 people. A Glasgow tower block played host for new TV ad. The empty multi-story high rise in Queen’s Court, Toryglen, had thousands of gallons of paint blasted across it by fireworks as part of a multi-million dollar campaign for Sony’s high definition Bravia LCD TV. The effect was stunning, but afterwards a major clean-up operation was required to clear away all the paint! The cleaning took 5 days and 60 people. Thankfully, the use of a special water-based paint made it easy to scrape-up once the water had evaporated. |
