Platitude
August 26th, 2008
by Jon Long
All the weights that keep me down seem heavier than before.
Fate hits me in the face; though you feel nothing.
“There is no chemistry.” Your words, my therapy.
Time shatters hope to pieces, leaving nothing.
“Anything more would be a platitude.” You’re right.
My bloody silence screams; but you hear nothing.
As fashion goes: ”One day you’re in, the next you may be out.”
Existence banished; cause: for giving all; though you give nothing.
All the things that hold me down do so with relentlessness.
Fate punches my stomach; though you do nothing.
You’re standing still; will time stand still for me?
Good deeds go punished; a route they always seem to take.
My giving heart bleeds pain while you bleed nothing.
All the weights that keep me down are heavier than before.
Questions linger in my head as you say nothing.
